Many employers aren’t aware that they could earn federal tax credits for hiring individuals from certain targeted groups. This includes veterans, public assistance recipients, restored citizens, individuals with disabilities, and others. To raise awareness about this dollar-for-dollar tax-savings, please consider inviting me to present at an upcoming event or meeting. As an account executive for the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) program in Ohio, I can explain to your members how to take advantage of this program. I also can answer all their questions. Applying for WOTC is simple, and there is no limit to the number of new hires who may qualify. The tax credits range from $2,400 to $9,600, depending on the target group. Since October 2021, ODJFS has certified more than 100,000 applications. As a result, thousands of Ohio employers have received more than $240 million in tax credits.
